Bettina and Arno spent four weeks in Taiwan.  Bettina's father insisted on speaking to Arno in Taiwanese, which would be Arno's third language.  Since Arno generally didn't understand whatever his Agong was saying, he usually replied in English, thus assuring mutual unintelligibility.
